Mitzie Ladd, LMT RM & Owner of Mind Your Body Holistic Health

I stronglybelieve that “Health is not simply the absence of illness”. In addition to Massage being effective in both acute and chronic injury recovery, I feel it is also essential in the maintenance of a healthy lifestyle. I have a strong passion for this healing profession, and try to pass along that knowledge, passion and enthusiasm to my students at the Cortiva Institute Boston, in Physiology & Pathology, Research and Business classes.
Before becoming a Muscular Therapist, I traveled extensively and enjoyed a background in Archaeology; after a serious back injury on ‘a dig’, I received my first massage. Massage, and other therapies, helped me immensely. I returned to school, studying Muscular Therapy, Hot Stone Massage, Reiki and Therapeutic Touch. I continue to learn and evolve in my practice, and am enjoying every minute. My health is important to me so I make sure to see my own Muscular Therapist regularly!

Jen Kenneally Brennan, LMT & Director of Business Development
Jen came to a career in Massage Therapy because of her training in theatre and dance. As an active performer, teacher and choreographer she learned first-hand how the body feels when it is overworked and in a state of dysfunction. Dancers, as well as other athletes are often told to “work through” pain or injury; “The Show Must Go On!” We ignore our pain and write it off as “normal” or “part of the job”. Jen believed this for almost two decades until her body had had enough. Years ago, during a particularly intense tech week for a musical production she was starring in, Jen had pain in her back that was so bad she couldn’t dance or sing, it hurt to inhale, twist or bend! After receiving massage and other forms of bodywork, she returned to the show and had many successful performances. This experience inspired her to follow a dream she had had for a long time, and she immediately signed up for Massage Therapy School.
As a therapist Jen is communicative and encouraging with her clients so they can be a mindful and active part of their own healing and prevention. She is currently a Teacher’s Assistant and Sciences Tutor at Cortiva Institute School of Massage Therapy in Watertown, Ma.

Emily Lapolice, LICSW, Yoga
I have been practicing psychotherapy for just over 5 years in New York City and Boston, working with adults, children and families in various settings. I knew very early on that this was a calling for me and, and one that came naturally. Having always been very in touch with my own emotions, I instinctively became attuned and empathic to the emotions of others. This has not only strengthened my therapeutic skills, but it has also provided a sense of authenticity and sincerity that my clients can feel.
Through personal experiences and challenges in my own life, I grew to see the connection between the thoughts in our heads, feelings in our hearts, and sensations in our bodies. Yoga helped me with this. I found my way to yoga nearly 8 years ago in the midst of change and transition, a common occurrence for all of us. Since then, it has become a foundation and touchstone in my life, grounding me in the face external stressors and allowing me to find my inner strength: I’ve found an experience of yoga that is entirely my own. I want to be able to help clients find their own personal experience of yoga as well.
Being able to integrate my skills and passion for both Therapy and Yoga is something that I always hoped I’d be able to do. I believe in this work – because of the theory and research behind it – but mostly because it resonates so deeply for me on a personal level. I consider it a privilege to be entrusted by my clients to help them find their own strength and inner wisdom.

Tammi Mansolf, LMT

My love of massage began with my parents asking me to walk on their backs as a child or rub their shoulders when I got too big for standing on them. Their praise of my innate talents nurtured my ideas of the power of healing touch as I grew up. I went to college thinking to take my healing hands to the world as a doctor; I attended Boston College where I felt my calling most strongly in my anatomy classes, as one would expect, but also in the classes I was taking in religion and sociology. I related to how a person’s mental, emotional and spiritual thoughts contributed to their state of health and their choices for health care. In the end, I graduated with a degree in Theology and a more solidified view of the mind-body-spirit connection.
When the massage therapy program at Muscular Therapy Institute came to my attention a few years later, I knew this was my second chance to fulfill my calling. I found everything I was learning as a Massage Therapy student, about how the muscles and bones worked together in health and in dysfunction, paralleled my training in martial arts. I came to appreciate first-hand how massage helped my own recovery from stress, overwork and minor issues, as well as management of chronic injuries over the long-term. Getting my Reiki attunement was the next logical step for me to integrate the physical healing aspects of bodywork with healing the energetic body.
My focus with my clients is to address their immediate pain and stress, whether that means using gentle energy work or relaxation massage to more intense deep tissue work and area-specific treatment. I also share my fascination with and knowledge of anatomy to increase my client’s self-awareness of the causes of their pain and stress. This self-knowledge, coupled with self-care techniques and my own regular bodywork helps me partner with my clients in their goal for better health. I couldn’t ask for a better job than that.

Mindful Reviews
“In addition to Mitzie being a wonderful massage therapist when you schedule one, she is also a wonderful massage therapist when you have an emergency. On my wedding day Mitzie was attending my wedding as a guest, but my husband was barely able to stand due to sever back pain. Mitzie came to the rescue and worked on his back before the ceremony, literally saving the day!”
